The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights condemned the crime committed by the Israeli occupation of the killing of Palestinian child Mohammed Munir Al-Tamimi. The Centre stressed that there was no justification for shooting at him because there was no danger or threat to the lives of soldiers. The Centre noted that this incident is evidence of the continued use of excessive gunshots and force by the Israeli occupying forces to disperse peaceful demonstrationsin; violating shooting standards, and in a manner that reflects the contempt of the occupation forces for the lives and safety of Palestinian citizens. The Centre reiterated its call on the international community to act immediately to halt the crimes of the occupation, and reiterated its call on the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to fulfil their obligations under Article I of the Convention; under which they undertake to respect and ensure respect for the Convention in all circumstances, as well as their obligations under Article 146 of the Convention to prosecute those accused of grave breaches of the Convention, and to guarantee the right of protection of Palestinian civilians in the occupied territory.
