Researcher Elisabeth Johansson published a paper in the journal “Diplomatic Studies” published by the Brill Publishing House, in the 16th volume, entitled “Group Politics and the Question of Palestinian Recognition in the UN System.” This paper explores the multilateral policy surrounding Palestine’s petition for recognition through membership in UNESCO and in the UN General Assembly as a non-member state. Furthermore, this paper discusses the role that groups such as the League of the Arab States and the Arab Group in the United Nations can play in multiplying Palestinian efforts to gain support and institutional dialogues with other political groups within the United Nations, such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, the African Group, and the African Union, the Union of South American Nations, as well as with the European Union.
