The head of the Palestinian Refugee Affairs Department in the Palestine Liberation Organization, Dr. Ahmed Abu Houli in a meeting with the Ambassador of Finland to the State of Palestine Anna-Kaisa Heikkinen have discussed the latest political developments and the financial crisis that faces the work of the International Relief Agency (UNRWA). Abu Houli has also appreciated Finland’s role in supporting UNRWA financially and politically, especially in its contribution to filling the deficit in the UNRWA budget in 2020. Abu Houli has also appreciated the position of the State of Finland in rejecting the Israeli annexation decision and has asked the ambassador to support the Palestinian cause by recognizing the state of Palestine. On her part, Ambassador Heikkinen has affirmed her country’s support for the Palestinian cause and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, adding that the solution to the Palestinian cause shall be carried out through the application of the United Nations resolutions in the same matter that requires the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of 4th of July with East Jerusalem as its capital. Heikkinen also has stressed that her country will continue to support UNRWA as it is a stabilizing factor for the region until a just solution to the Palestinian refugee issue is found.
