The European Coordination of Committees and Associations for Palestine (ECCP) reported that academics and researchers in countries participating in European research programmes have published an open letter criticizing the ongoing failure of the European Union (EU) to ensure that its taxpayer-funded research programmes are not used to legitimize or otherwise sustain the establishment and the activities of Israeli academic institutions in illegal settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT). The signatories specifically highlighted the situation of Ariel University, which is located in the illegal Israeli settlement of Ariel in the occupied West Bank. The university participates in the programme by holding workshops and presenting co-researchers despite its location in an illegal settlement. For further details, click here
