A report by Addameer prisoner support and human rights Association documented the Israeli violations against 43 Palestinian females held in Israeli prisons and detention centers, including 8 injured prisoners and 12 sick prisoners. The report noted that since 1967, the occupation forces have arrested more than 13,000 Palestinian women. It also documented the harsh circumstances in which women are arrested and indicated that the occupation authorities have recently escalated targeting female university students by arresting and abusing them, and also reviewed several painful testimonies about torture and ill-treatment of detainees during the investigation period, including strip search, shabeh, beatings, medical negligence, and preventing them from meeting a lawyer. Furthermore, the report pointed to the occupation’s legal responsibilities towards female prisoners, indicating that violations against female prisoners represent violations of multiple articles in the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against women.
