During the meetings of the Advisory Committee, representatives of the Arab countries hosting Palestinian refugees expressed their total rejection of UNRWA’s resort to splitting the salaries of its employees as one of the measures to deal with the UNRWA financial crisis. They also believed that this decision would negatively affect the lives of Palestinian refugees, the work of UNRWA, and the entire region. The countries also expressed their hope that the meetings of the UNRWA Advisory Committee, which will be held on November 23, will produce alternatives solutions to urgently secure $ 70 million to cover the salaries of UNRWA employees, without compromising the services provided to refugees or affecting the salaries of the employees who stand in the front row in the face of the COVID-19. Dr. Ahmed Abu Houli, Head of the Refugee Affairs Department at the Palestine Liberation Organization, added, “there is consensus among the Arab host countries to reject the UNRWA decision to split the salaries of its employees.” To check the news, click here
