Al-Haq condemned the Israeli demolition of Palestinian property in Khirbet Humsa al-Fawqa, which constitutes a grave violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention. Commenting on the demolition, Al-Haq said: “The timing of this attack indicates the Israeli occupying authorities seemed to utilize and take advantage of the transitional period between Trump and Biden administrations to advance, intensify and entrench its settler-colonial enterprise, by creating yet another ‘fact on the ground’ and through its systematic forcible displacement of Palestinians and replacing them with Israeli settlers.”Al-Haq emphasized that businesses have a responsibility to respect human rights, to act with enhanced due diligence to avoid infringing on human rights and to address human rights harms that occur, in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Al-Haq reported that it had monitored corporate complicity in human rights violations in the OPT and the involvement of Israeli and international companies in the illegal settlement enterprise. Al-Haq called on the international community to take concrete and effective actions to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and violations and reiterates the need for international justice and accountability to bring Israeli impunity.
