A member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, denounced the occupation court’s rejection of the petition filed by the Hebron municipality to prevent settlers from setting up an elevator in the Ibrahimi mosque and to grant work permits to the Israeli Supreme Planning Council, Stressing that this decision is nothing but a continuation of the Israeli approach based on stealing Palestinian sanctities, history, and identity and that decision just serves the interests of extremist settlers.

Ashrawi stressed the need to take serious and effective steps by international and legal organizations, the international community, especially the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and Arab and Islamic countries, in order to stop the theft of what remains of this holy Palestinian Islamic site.
