The Conference of Supervisors on Palestinian Affairs in Host Arab Countries held its 106th session, at which it warned of the consequences of the declarations and movements by some international parties aimed at forfeiting the right of return for Palestinian refugees, stressing the need to adhere to the right of refugees to return to their homes and for compensation as their inherent right, and to reject all forms of settlement attempts. Participants at the Conference said that the Palestinian refugee issue is the core of the Palestinian issue, and its solution is a basis for achieving a just and comprehensive peace, noting that what is happening in the city of Jerusalem and its neighborhoods at the hands of the Israeli government is ethnic cleansing, forced displacement and racial discrimination that amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity. The participants called upon the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and Member States to intensify their efforts on the international scene and at the UN to affirm this right in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, and to affirm Israel’s legal, political and moral responsibility for the emergence and continuation of the Palestinian refugee issue. They also called upon the international community to implement the relevant international legitimacy resolutions and to recognize the State of Palestine by countries that have not recognized it yet in order to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive solution that would contribute to the strengthening of world peace and security. For further details, click here
