The International Law Clinic of the Law for Palestine organisation is looking for an Administrative Assistant (Pro Bono).
Project description:
The selected candidate will assist in establishing, institutionalising, expanding and maintaining Law for Palestine’s International Law Clinic. The research-led teaching method of clinical legal education enables students to learn through experience by applying the legal theory of international law to real-world situations. This is achieved by enabling students to work on cases for real-life cooperation partners.
Key responsibilities:
The administrative assistant will be working under the supervision of the International Law Clinic director, and is expected to:
- Assist in the administration of the emerging International Law Clinic of the Law for Palestine organisation, including developing further institutionalisation strategies for the Network and establishing adequate communication channels with the Network’s members;
- Liaise with academic institutions and researchers globally in order to expand the International Law Clinic work;
- Maintain and/or establish partnerships with humanitarian organisations, governments, regional and international organisations, international and domestic courts and tribunals, as well as other relevant actors acting as cooperating partners for the International Law Clinic;
- Manage and maintain databases of the International Law Clinic’s members, activities and partners;
- Design and implement a public relations strategy for the International Law Clinic, as well as assist with public relations and website’s maintenance of the Clinic section;
- Assist in the organisation of ad hoc events, including online workshops and roundtables in connection with the International Law Clinic;
- Report on the progress of the establishment and expansion of the International Law Clinic work to the Clinic’s Director;
- Provide support for colleagues in the areas of responsibility.
Selection criteria:
- University degree; additional qualification as an Administrative Assistant or related fields;
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Good command of Arabic is required.
- A high sense of commitment and dedication and willingness to assist in on-going dissemination and organisational matters of the Clinic;
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work;
- Strong dedication and commitment to the goals and objectives of the Clinic;
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
- Experience in database and stakeholder management is seen as an asset;
- Experience in public relations management, maintenance of online appearance of a medium-sized organisation working in the humanitarian field is seen as an asset;
- Experience in working as an administrative assistant, or in liaising with humanitarian actors, or in procuring funds for academic or humanitarian institutions will be considered as an asset;
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability and willingness to work collaboratively and collegially in a team.
Successful Candidates:
- Must be willing to work remotely (10 – 15 hours per week) within the International Law Clinic’s team on a 6-months volunteer contract (with the possibility of extension);
- Must sign a confidentiality agreement with the International Law Clinic;

Background: Law for Palestine and its International Law Clinic
Law for Palestine (L4P) is a voluntary and non-profit organisation registered in the United Kingdom. It aims to build and create a network of legal professionals interested in Palestine from around the world, and to provide enriched and objective Palestinian legal content. International Law Clinic is one of the L4P projects that aims to provide an international professional platform for research, teaching and further dissemination of International Law among international law students and lawyers. By doing this, it aims to create better protection and assistance for victims of war and more respect for humanity in armed conflicts and crisis situations, especially within the occupied State of Palestine. The International Law Clinic main goal is to provide young lawyers and researchers the opportunity to conduct research in the fields of International Law, to apply theory to practice, and to spread the knowledge and expertise of International Law.
