The Foreign Ministers of Morocco and Israel signed in Rabat, agreements to create a political consultation mechanism between the two countries and another for cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and air services, during the first official visit of a high-ranking Israeli official after the normalization of relations between the two countries at the end of last year. Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita clarified the Kingdom’s position calling for “the need to break the current stalemate and resume negotiations”. The Israeli minister did not refer in his speech to the Palestinian file, and instead stressed the importance of normalizing relations with various Arab countries, which “shows that something is changing in the region”, and noted the depth of cultural ties between the Kingdom and Israelis of Moroccan origin.
