Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Ardan, sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, asking him to officially recognize the status of Jews coming from Arab countries and Iran as refugees, and to promote activities that reflect their heritage. He also demanded in his letter to initiate global research on what he called “the deportation of the Jews of the Arab countries and Iran”, and to initiate advocacy activities on this topic in the various forums of the world organization. In his letter, Ardan indicated that he would submit a draft resolution to hold an annual debate “to commemorate the Jewish refugees expelled from Arab countries and Iran.” Ardan accused the United Nations of dealing extensively and differently with Palestinian refugees, and completely ignoring the Jewish refugees from Arab countries and Iran.
