The settlers of the illegal settlement outpost, Avitar, accepted a compromise with the Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, whereby settlers will leave the outpost on the land of the Palestinian village of Beita in the West Bank, but the houses will remain in place, as the occupying power re-examines the status of the land. If it turns out that the outpost can be legalized, the residents will be able to return “as soon as possible.” The deal also stipulates that an army post will be established at the site. The Palestinians appealed against the settlement deal, considering that it was intended to circumvent the eviction order and violate Palestinian property rights.
