Ghadeer Abu Madeen, the researcher at Law for Palestine, participated in a round table discussion on Palestinian female prisoners as part of the 16-day campaign against GBV, organized by several international and local organizations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Abu Madeen discussed the legal status of female Palestinian prisoners in light of international law, as well as the political pretext arrests under occupying forces’, and administrative detentions of Palestinian women in the oPt.
She also specified the Israeli practices violating the protection rules and fair trial guarantees granted by international humanitarian law for detainees and arrested persons.
The Archbishop Atallah Hanna discussed the Israeli practices against Palestinians in Jerusalem, while Khalida Jarrar recounted her experience with administrative detention, and a number of researchers from both genders, discussed the media coverage dedicated to male and female prisoners, as well as the importance of providing psychological support to children after they are released.
