The member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Ahmed Majdalani, called on Ireland to recognize the State of Palestine. Majdalani said during his meeting with Ireland’s ambassador to Palestine, Don Sexton, that the Irish parliament has already taken a decision on this, and we hope that it will take another step forward towards taking action with a group of European countries, especially as they support the two-state solution and the recognition of the Palestinian state. He appreciated the supportive position of the Government of Ireland of the national rights of the Palestinian people, noting that the European Union and Ireland have a major role to play in supporting the international political movement towards opening horizons for the political process and implementing international legitimacy resolutions by exerting pressure on the new occupation government and its program based on settlements and land seizure.
