Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh announced the resumption of halted relations with the United States of America under the new administration of Joe Biden. The resumption comes after a Palestinian boycott of the previous administration headed by Donald Trump, in response to its recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Shtayyeh said that he has been in contact with the new U.S. president, discussing ways to resume Palestinian-American relations, notably in terms of reopening diplomatic and consular offices, resuming U.S. aid, supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), and pushing forward the political process.
