The Institute for Palestine Studies has released a new study by Dr. Anis. F. Kassim titled “Israel’s 2018 Nation-State Law: The Zionist Apartheid Manifesto.”
This study provides an in-depth analysis of Israel’s Basic Law: Israel as the Nation-State of the Jewish People, which was enacted in July 2018.
The first section of the study delves into the legislative history of the law, which serves as a de facto constitutional law in the absence of an official Israeli constitution.
It also explores the five core principles underlying the law, highlighting how it is designed to confer rights related to nationality, return, residence, and territory exclusively to Jews. This institutionalizes discrimination against Palestinians displaced or subjected to Israeli control in 1948 and 1967.
Additionally, the study argues that the law is the culmination of the Zionist settlement project, aimed at denying the national, territorial, and humanitarian rights of the indigenous Palestinian population.
