The permanent representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Minister Riyad Mansour, said in identical letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations; Antonio Guterres, the President of the Security Council, and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, that the Israeli Prime Minister’s announcement of building 800 settlement units in the West Bank, and the launching of tenders for 2,500 illegal units, in addition to more than 450 units to be built in settlements in occupied East Jerusalem, constitute another blatant violation of international law and United Nations resolutions. Mansour stressed the need to address such measures as a matter of adherence to international law and United Nations resolutions, in addition to continuing to impede the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, tearing apart the continuity of the Palestinian state, and destroying the viability of the two-state solution on the pre-1967 borders.
