The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (MOFA) said that demolitions of homes and other facilities by the Israeli occupation forces in the al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan town in occupied Jerusalem is an extension of the large-scale ethnic cleansing process against Jerusalemites. It’s also a practice that has persisted during successive Israeli governments. This latest wave of demolitions was started by the previous government and now they continue to take place under the new government. These demolitions, the Ministry said, aim to change the identity of the city and its landmarks, and it shows the true face of the new coalition’s government as it supports continued illegal and expansionist colonial settlements in the lands of the State of Palestine. The Ministry expressed its regret that no international criticism or concern was issued about the crimes committed by the Israeli government against the Palestinian presence on its land so far. It further added that the passage of time without an international move to oppose and condemn these crimes will put the region as a whole, not just the Palestinian-Israeli situation, before a new stage of uncertainty.
