Researchers Sara Hughes, Stepha Velednitsky and Amelia Green publish an article in the Environment and Planning E: Nature and Space Journal titled: “Greenwashing in Palestine/Israel: Settler Colonialism and Environmental Injustice in the age of climate catastrophe.” Taking into account Israel’s historical and geographical context, this article argues that Israel’s green technologies are structured by the Zionist project to seize Palestinian lands. An analysis of the use of environmental infrastructures is provided in order to show how they are used as mechanisms for land appropriation and dispossession in Palestine/Israel. The concept of ‘green-washing’ is used as a rhetorical strategy to highlight that regardless of the ecological impact of individual technologies, under Israel’s settler colonial context, they continue to further dispossession and elimination of indigenous people.
