The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Italian Republic, Abeer Odeh, briefed members of the Italian Parliament during a hearing session entitled: “The End of the Conflict between Israel and Gaza” at the Council’s headquarters, about the recent developments in the Palestinian situation. She indicated that the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip had severe humanitarian, psychological and social consequences for the Palestinian civilian population, who suffer from hunger and lack of food, fuel, basic needs and even hospital supplies. Odeh called on Italy to support the Arab Peace Initiative and the initiative of President Mahmoud Abbas, which was presented last year before the UN Security Council. She also called on the members of the Italian Parliament to urge their government to recognize Palestine as a state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international law and all relevant UN resolutions.
