The Belgian Palestinian Friendship Association called on the Belgian Government to veto the return of bilateral meetings provided for in the partnership agreement with the Israeli occupying Power, as the European Union is is a major economic partner for Israel, and the need to suspend it as long as the occupation continues to violate human rights in Palestine, under the human rights clause. The association added that Israel’s policies against the Palestinians continue, warning of the danger of ethnic cleansing, particularly in the Silwan neighbourhood of occupied Jerusalem, as well as the continued siege of Gaza. The Assembly called on the European Union to press Israel to respect its responsibilities and obligations under international law and in accordance with international legitimacy.
