The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs (CDA) called on the humanitarian and human rights institutions, led by the International Committee of Red Cross, to take immediate action to force the Megiddo prison administration to accept the prisoners’ demands to bring in clothes, blankets, and other daily needs. The commission revealed, in a statement, that the prison administration took advantage of the coronavirus pandemic to suppress detainees, making their lives more difficult by depriving them of rights, including to family visits. It’s important to note that, family visits were suspended by the Israeli occupation authorities under the pretext of health situations. The commission stated that “the Red Cross shall fulfil its commitments and intervene immediately to allow detainees to obtain their stuff such as clothes and blankets, especially in light of the current political and medical conditions.” For further details, click here
