Dr. Riyad al-Maliki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has welcomed the statement of Michael Link, Special Rapporteur on the human rights conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, in which he warned of the plan of the current government coalition of Israel to annex parts of the West Bank, including Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley. Moreover, he has considered that the annexation will create consequences for human rights. Al-Maliki has also warned against the consequences of annexation and considered that “the international stability, security, and peace in the Middle East region will not be achieved without ending the Israeli occupation, embodying independence for the sovereign state of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as it is the capital of Palestine, and achieving the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, especially the right to self-determination and return”.
