The Palestinian National Council (PNC) demanded, through identical letters sent by the Spokesman of the Council, Salim Zanoun to the heads of parliamentary federations and assemblies around the world, and to several presidents of parliaments in the continents of the world, to support UNRWA, to overcome its financial crisis. Zanoun explained that this financial crisis has directly affected the services it provides to Palestinian refugees, in the areas of UNRWA operations. Adding that the crisis has exacerbated under the COVID-19 pandemic and increased poverty, unemployment, and the lack of fund to pay salaries for its employees, which are estimated at 30,000 employees, as UNRWA is unable to pay the salaries of its employees for December 2020 due to the lack of funds. “ We are in the PNC look forward to addressing the states to exert pressure on their governments and urge them to support “UNRWA”, or provide additional funding that contributes to $85 million”, said Zanoun.
