Human Rights Watch (HRW) said that the Australian attack, in a statement by its Foreign Minister Maryse Payne, on the decision of the International Criminal Court regarding its jurisdiction over the Palestinian territories demanding the court not to exercise such jurisdiction is alarming and foretells danger. HRW indicated that many other countries signalled their disagreement on the merits of this ruling, but none of them, to date, has explicitly said that the court should not exercise its jurisdiction in this case. “Instead of undermining the ICC, Australia should voice its support for the court, protect its independence, and stop trying to block a Palestine investigation,” HRW stated.
