Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) informed Israel that it has petitioned the Israeli Supreme Court following Israel’s decision to prevent patients with chronic and other serious illnesses from leaving Gaza, even though the medical treatments they need are not available in  Gaza Strip. The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that this policy “is highly unreasonable in that it uses the right to health as a political tool” and exacts a “heavy price on the most vulnerable, especially when the health care system in the Gaza Strip is already overburdened after the recent war”.
