Researchers Francesca Albanese and Lex Takkenberg published a new edition of their book entitled “Palestinian Refugees in International Law,” which was first published in 1997. The book addresses the fact that the Palestinian refugee question, resulting from the events surrounding the birth of the state of Israel seventy years ago, remains one of the largest and most protracted refugee crises of the post-WWII era. The book also deals with the fact that the situation of the Palestinian refugees, who number more than six million only in the Middle East, varies considerably according to the state or territory “hosting” them, and although international law forms the basis for the experience of Palestinian refugees and the resolution to their plight, this law is often side-lined in political discussions concerning their fate.
