- The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC) stated that Israeli authorities intend to review 11 settlement plans across several governorates in the West Bank covering a combined area of 374,293 dunams. - The Likud Party, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, alleged that Arab political parties in Israel had “stolen the elections” through what it described as serious criminal offences, including bribery, threats, violence, electoral fraud and the use of prohibited software to mobilise voters. - The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, lambasted Francesca Albanese, the UN’s Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Palestinian territories, calling her a “liar” and a “fraud”. He further rejected her latest report, which said that Israel had systematically targeted journalists during the war in Gaza. (October 27, 2026)
United Nations Statements and Publications:
- The United Nations Secretary-General expressed concern over the expansion of Israeli settlements, the displacement of Palestinians and escalating settler violence in the occupied West Bank, warning of the growing risk of ethnic cleansing. He stressed the need to halt these practices, emphasising that achieving lasting peace requires guaranteeing the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. He also called for the lifting of Israeli restrictions on humanitarian aid and the removal of obstacles hindering the implementation of the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, endorsed by the Security Council. (October 26, 2026)
- United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk stated that the ongoing Israeli military operation in the West Bank city of Hebron, which began on Friday, had resulted in the forcible displacement of more than 2,000 Palestinians. He emphasised that collective punishment constitutes a serious violation of international law and that threats to empty entire neighbourhoods raise grave concerns about ethnic cleansing. (October 26, 2026)
- The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry issued a report confirming that Israel had committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied Palestinian territory, including killings, torture, rape and sexual violence, while noting the continuation of genocide in Gaza. The report highlighted the escalation of killings, military operations and the displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank since October 2023. The Commission concluded that Israeli military operations and settler violence form part of a widespread and systematic attack against Palestinians, warning that Israeli expansion and displacement undermine the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. (October 26, 2026)
- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that the United Nations and its partners were responding to new waves of displacement in Gaza and the West Bank. The Office warned of the risks of continued forcible displacement, given the uncertainty surrounding when displaced residents would be allowed to return to their homes. It stressed that punitive measures targeting entire families and communities raise concerns about violations of the prohibitions on collective punishment and forcible transfer under international law, noting that Israeli restrictions obstruct access to essential services and humanitarian assistance. (October 27, 2026)
- United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese described the behaviour of Israeli representative Danny Danon, including what she characterised as cheap bullying and childish conduct, as bringing embarrassment and shame upon the United Nations. - United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development Surya Deva affirmed that the Israeli occupation deliberately violates the Palestinian people’s right to development in the occupied Palestinian territory. He noted that the occupation undermines the very essence of this right, which is rooted in the ongoing struggle for liberation from political and economic colonialism and the establishment of a just and equitable international order, depriving Palestinians of their right to self-determination and development. (October 29, 2026)
- The United Nations Human Rights Office in the occupied Palestinian territory warned of growing concerns about ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip, as Israeli forces push Palestinians into an increasingly shrinking area while expanding their deployment zones, with a stated objective of covering 70% of the Strip’s territory.
