As part of its campaign to support and save the lives of sick prisoners, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs in the Southern Governorates called on the Palestinian, Arab and international humanitarian and human rights institutions to press on the occupation in order to save the lives of the sick prisoners in Israeli jails, and to abide by the clauses and articles of the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.
The commission also mentioned a number of sick prisoners from the southern governorates who are in desperate need of health care, and who suffer at the same time from deliberate health neglect from the Israeli authorities, among of them, the prisoner Samir Hamdan al-Lahham, who has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, suffers from rheumatism and joint pain, and he only takes painkiller.
