Israel announced that it will reopen the Kerem Shalom crossing with the Gaza Strip and allow the fishing distance to 15 nautical miles, as of September 1. This comes after Hamas announced earlier that an agreement had been reached to reduce the escalation and stop the Israeli attacks against the Gaza Strip and restore the situation to what it was before the escalation. The Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Kamil Abu Rukun, said that this decision will be on probation, and if Hamas, which bears responsibility for what is happening in the Gaza Strip, does not abide by its statements, then Israel will take the necessary measures in response.
