Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh, in a meeting with the new European envoy for the Middle East peace process, Sven Copmans, called on European countries to take a firm and serious stance regarding the Israeli occupation, including by exerting pressure on Israel to halt settlement expansion, seizure of Palestinian land and displacement of Palestinians from their homes, especially in Jerusalem. He reiterated the Palestinian leadership’s insistence on holding the elections, calling on the international community, especially European countries, to pressure Israel to allow the holding of the elections as well as voting in Jerusalem.
